What is the difference between packing plywood and commercial-grade plywood? Packing plywood is an economy-grade panel optimised for structural strength at low cost — face appearance is secondary. Veneers may have knots, patches, or colour variation not acceptable for commercial interiors. Bintangor and poplar plywood offer a step up in face quality for packing applications where surface appearance or paint adhesion matters. Mika Plywood can advise on the right grade for your volume and budget. Does Mika Plywood packaging plywood meet phytosanitary (ISPM 15) requirements? Yes. All Mika Plywood packaging plywood used in export crates and pallets can be supplied with phytosanitary treatment (heat treatment or methyl bromide) and ISPM 15 certification. This is required by most countries to prevent the spread of pests in wooden packaging material. Please specify ISPM 15 compliance when requesting a quotation. What thickness is recommended for pallet decks and crate walls? For pallet decks: 9–12mm is standard for most industrial applications, with 15–18mm for heavy-load pallets. For crate walls and lids: 6–9mm is typical for lightweight goods; 12–15mm for heavy machinery crating. Mika Plywood can provide thickness recommendations based on your load requirements and pallet standard (EPAL, ISPM 15, or custom). How many sheets of packaging plywood fit in a 40HC container? Container capacity depends on panel thickness and core species. For 12mm styrax-core packing plywood (1220×2440mm): approximately 900–1,100 sheets per 40HC container (~18 pallets). For 9mm panels: approximately 1,200–1,500 sheets. Mixed container orders combining different thicknesses or species are available — Mika Plywood will provide exact CBM calculations with your quotation. What is the MOQ for packaging plywood orders? Minimum order quantity is one 20ft container (~20–25 CBM) or one 40ft container (40–53 CBM). For packing plywood, mixed thickness orders within the same container are accepted. Regular buyers with recurring monthly orders can negotiate blanket purchase agreements with scheduled shipments. Contact our export team for volume pricing. Can Mika Plywood supply packaging plywood in custom pallet dimensions? Yes. Standard panel sizes are 1220×2440mm and 1250×2500mm, but Mika Plywood can cut-to-size for common pallet formats: 1000×1200mm (EPAL), 800×1200mm, 1100×1100mm (Asia), or custom dimensions for your specific crate design. Custom cutting is available for orders above 20 CBM. Specify your required dimensions when requesting a quote.
